The Sweet SaraBelle team at The Mayton Inn, May 2019.
Oh heyyyyyy 2019! You just snuck up on us didn’t you?!? What a year it has been! We opened a venue, met new friends, made fantastic memories and celebrated with some of the most amazing couples and their families this year. While every year brings it’s own beauty, this past year we had the pleasure of working with some truly awesome individuals and planning the most magical moments. I’m incredibly proud of our team and so thankful to all of the couples who trusted us and included us in their special days. We love y’all!
2018 was also full of exciting moments in my personal life and for the first time ever, I’m getting personal on the blog in hopes that it will inspire someone else. (WHAT!?!)
While I have always tried to preach about the importance of a work life balance, hypocrisy has won over implementing this practice into day to day life.
Too often, my days are filled with back to back appointments, take out dinners and falling asleep to the glow of my laptop. (Romantic… am I right?!?)
This year, I made a focused effort to pencil “ME” time into my schedule. Does that mean I abandoned the hustle? Nope. I still work 26 hours a day (because #entrepreneurlife) but I also did do a lot more of the things that make me happy. Don’t think you have the time to have it all? Think again! I know I’m not the only one who starts their day with a phone in hand.
The comparison struggle is real, friends, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
Once I replaced scrolling on social media with intentional time spent on getting my day started, it was a game changer. It’s amazing how a little time management can transform your daily routine and uplift your soul.
Over the past year I…
-Started almost every day with breakfast. I made smarter choices about the food I put into my body, and made a consistent effort to meal prep. Food is fuel, friends.
-Found inspiration + strength in fellow creatives who are knee deep with you in the hustle. Walking the #communityovercompetition walk is a beautiful way to live.
-Traveled with my husband and explored 5 new awesome places I had never been to.
-Cried buckets watching my little brother get married in the middle of a hurricane to the most amazing woman ever. (Seriously y’all… she is the BEST!)
-Turned 30, and celebrated with some of the sweetest friends a girl could ask for.
-Shared summer days with my best friend + her adorable daughters, playing at the pool, museum adventuring and eating tacos. (so. many. tacos.)
-Bought a boat with the hubbs + learned how to surf.
-Spent intentional time organizing my beautiful mess, and making our home a place of serenity + comfort.
I am also thrilled to say that Sweet SaraBelle had one of the most fulfilling seasons ever, serving incredible couples and creatively crafting beautiful wedding days.
Keeping a healthy work life balance was the best decision I made for myself over the last few years, and I fully intend on keeping that balance going into this year. When we get intentional with our work, and our purpose, we can be more successful + fulfilled then we ever imagined.
While this year has been a success in many ways, you know what this year hasn’t been full of? BLOGS. You guys… the last blog we published was January 17, 2018. (YIKES!) The pressure to create creative content is real y’all! I can’t promise you that this year we will blog consistently (and most likely this current blog post will be the longest one we see all year) but I do promise to make an effort to share these beautiful moments in real time because our sweet couples deserve to be celebrated!
So this year I’m trading resolution, for inspiration: Be YOU. Find your flow, accept it and be proud of who you are. Handle your soul with care. Own your flaws, change for the better + never stop growing. Look to others with kindness instead of judgment. Choose to be happy in all that you do.
Cheers, babes!
xoxo Sarah
